മ LIVE TO BE 80?

Live life to the fullest :

I recently turned 64 and had to choose a new primary care physician for my Medicare program.

After two visits and exhaustive lab tests, he said I was doing "fairly well" for my age.

A little concerned about that comment, I couldn't resist asking him, "Do you think I will live to be 80?"

He asked: "Do you smoke tobacco or drink?"
"Oh no," I replied. "I don't do drugs, either."

"Do you have many friends and entertain frequently?"
I said, "No, I usually stay home and keep to myself."

"How about eating rib-eye steaks and barbecued ribs?"
I said, "No, my other doctor said that all red meat is unhealthy!"

"What about veges and white meat"? he asked
"Never liked the fishy smell and green stuff".

"Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf, sailing, hiking, or cycling?"
"No, I don't," I said.

"Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or have a lot of sex?"
"No," I said. "I've stopped doing any of those things."

"Do you go to church, or meditate in temple?"
"No way I go near to these places", I said. "I am a free thinker"

"Do you surf the net, own any blog, face book or twitter account?"
"No," I said "Its bad for the eyes and a complete waste of time"

"Not even a hobby?"
I said "Cannot remember any!"

He looked at me and said, "Then why would you want to live to 80?"

How True? To some life is meaningless but to the yogis they live with bare necessities.

Thanks to Fah Shin for the email

Kelvin ~ Oh you want both that's OK live life and to the fullest now and later just like Maslow's hierarchy of needs go for soul searching.:)

Camaraderie ~ That reminds me of a buddy friend from Penang with this phrase. Occasionally Jack Daniel's whiskey and smoked salmon should be OK, please try not to tell too many lies white lies ok. haha

Good post of reminder us that living meaningful is more important than the period we are living.

First things first, here's wishing you a belated Happy Birthday and may you have many, many more, CheahSan.

It's really the quality of life that counts, not the quantity, right?

Funny post and quite true too.

HappySurfer ~ Thanks for the nice birthday wishes. About quality of life heard some old folks in India once they have fulfilled their responsibility as a father, husband etc most of them would leave their homes to do soul searching living on the most basics in life.
